Ngô Thanh Vân was born in 1979, in Trà Vinh, Vietnam. Growing up, she faced significant changes as her parents divorced when she was 16, and she migrated to Norway with her mother at the age of 10, sponsored by a kind-hearted Norwegian man.

Ngô Thanh Vân’s talent soon caught the attention of international audiences. In 2004, she made her first international appearance in the television series “Rouge.” The show was produced by MTV Asia & MediaCorp Singapore and aired widely in Asia and Australia, earning her recognition as a favorite actress on the MTV Asia website.

Van made her breakthrough in 2006 with her lead role in the critically acclaimed Vietnamese film, “The Rebel.” She received high praise from critics and the public, earning her the Best Actress Award at the 15th Vietnam Film Festival. She was also nominated for Best Actress at the Golden Kite Awards.
